The system’s jet-less threading capa-
bility allows for threading interrupted/
hollow parts and those with extreme-
ly small start holes. Complimenting
these capabilities is an enhanced
auto-wire-threading system, which
utilizes an advanced annealing
process to help straighten the wire.
This ensures reliable and consistent
threading, providing manufacturers

with confi dence in the production of
their products. In the event of a wire
break, the Hyper Drive Extreme
auto-wire-threading system also
allows the operator to thread in the
gap for specifi c applications. This
can greatly reduce the recovery wire
break processing time.

Accelerated Speeds with
Superior Accuracy
The UX-Series is equipped with Makino’s
H.E.A.T. (High-Energy Applied Technology)
system, a standard feature that dramatically
boosts cutting performance while reducing
maintenance demands. This technology,
combined with a robust four-fi lter fi ltration
system, allows the UX-Series to handle even

the most challenging cuts, especially when
the water nozzles/fl ush cups are detached
from the workpiece. The dual high-capacity
fl ush pumps integral to H.E.A.T. signifi cantly
improve fl ushing, which minimizes operator
intervention and enhances cutting speeds.
These two pumps provide responsive in-
dependent fl ushing to the upper and lower
heads, which results in the rapid production
of parts that not only meet accuracy stan-
dards, but also include improved surface

fi nishes. Makino’s H.E.A.T. technology
employs fl ushing pressures up to 1.6 MPa
(232 psi). Using the dual high-capacity fl ush
pumps, machining speeds are increased
for both sealed and unsealed machining.
Machining cycle times can be reduced by up
to 20% for sealed machining and up to 35%
for unsealed machining, by utilizing Makino’s
H.E.A.T. technology. H.E.A.T. technology can be used with both brass and coated EDM wire. When using
coated EDM wire, machining cycle times can be reduced by up to an additional 25%. As with the dynamic
corner control technology, Makino’s H.E.A.T. technology is built into the machine cutting technology data-
base providing improved cutting speeds with minimal operator intervention.
