Artifi cial intelligence seems to become essential
today, like parsley in the kitchen.
As a matter of fact, AI will be very useful to
improve both off line and real time process
control. The improvement to the Tecform
comes from the huge quantity of data available
in the database.

This data can help in creating models by AI,
allowing the system to provide alternative
strategies for the same results if the effi ciency
is not the expected one (like the navigator in
your car advising you to exit the freeway if there
is an accident).

Also, in the real time phase, AI can help.
First of all, a traditional control loop is static,
i.e., it always applies the same rules. An
AI-based system can learn from past

Then, such a system can optimize 4-5 parameters at the same time, which is ideal for the EDM process.
In Fig. 9, only 3D can be represented, but additional parameters such as parameter 3 and parameter 4 are changed
in real time.
