two new machines that will accommodate the trend for larger parts, particularly in the
aerospace and power generation industries. Incorporating the latest control and power
supply technology, the new machines set a new standard for EDM productivity.

Recently, Mitsubishi introduced two new machine models: the SG70 Sinker and the MV4800-ST Wire EDM.
The equipment was fi rst introduced in Japan for vetting.
After a successful trial period, both machines were made
available in North America and other parts of the world.

The MV4800-ST is capable of fully submerged cutting of

workpieces up to almost 32 inches tall. Its auto-threading
system can anneal wire over 39 inches in length and can
auto-thread through the workpiece at both the start point
and directly through the gap if needed for broken wire
recovery. With support for a wire spool capacity of up to
55 lbs, the highly reliable auto-threading system is ideal
for lights-out operation on the largest of parts.
