pensive) way to index the wire on the roller. A penny is about
.060”, so a shim around that size can also be used.
Indexing the wire BEFORE a groove is formed is the key to long
life on your rollers. Once a groove occurs, the wire will natu-
rally walk back into it. I recommend indexing the wire every
250 hours before a groove is formed. After the fi rst 250 hours,

insert the penny or shim; after the next 250 hours, remove it
and repeat until a groove forms that causes the wire to curl. At
that point, the feed roller will have to be replaced, but the pinch
roller can be fl ipped. Be sure to replace the bearings at this
time as well, whether they are showing signs of failing or not.

C series: The part number for the indexing kit is, A04B-0310-
J135#E, and the current cost is just over $300. The key to
successfully using this kit, like the A & B series, is indexing
the wire BEFORE a groove forms. This kit will allow a total
of six spots to be used on the feed and pinch rollers, three
on each side of the rollers. I also recommend 250 hours

between indexes, and repeat until a groove forms that
          causes the wire to curl.
iA series and above: I recommend indexing the wire every 500
hours on these models, and like the older models, repeat until
a groove forms that cannot be indexed away from.
                                                                                 FANUC Wire Management
In conclusion, index the wire before a groove forms; waiting until
a groove forms will shorten the life of your rollers. Be sure to maintain the proper crush on the wire, which is a
30% crush for all models, for example: .010” wire, after being crushed between the rollers, should come out at
          about .0070” to .0075”.
