IMTS Update
Located in the heart of the South building, Belmont had an ideal location to
showcase their equipment. I was welcomed into the booth by Sarah Pierce,
Belmont’s Marketing Manager. We were joined by Brian Nixon, Belmont’s
Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The booth looked great and had many operational machines, including a very
impressive model SY-CNC3040TG CNC EDM Drill cutting turbine blade cooling holes.

Brian, Belmont President Tony Tyll, and
CEO Bob Ianitelli. We discussed what’s
new and what the future holds for Bel-
mont. In terms of what’s new, Belmont
is responding to employee shortages in
the manufacturing industry by offering
both production-ready and automa-
tion-ready equipment. Recognizing that
customers have different needs, Bel-

many consumables. Tony and Brian explained that Belmont’s Technical Sales
Team will work with customers to fi nd the best consumables that match the
job. We discussed EDM wire in particular. Tony stated that he likes to use the
analogy of the careful consideration applied to match a rotating milling cutter
to the material being cut. Similarly, the Belmont sales team helps match the
correct wire to the work. The

graphite or even EDM oil. Want-
ing to understand how Belmont
does this, I asked what resources are available. Tony explained that
Belmont has developed a case study library of many different applica-
tions over many years. This real-world data helps the Belmont team
match the right products to achieve the best results – not just from a
cutting-speed perspective, but also from a profi tability perspective.
When new products come to market, Belmont will participate in testing
the material to determine what is optimal—again, to make the best
business case.

CLC LUBRICANTS Booth 237145
I received a very warm welcome when I entered the CLC Lubricants
booth. CLC President Patrick O’Brien and Laboratory Manager Ryan
Hamilton were both in the booth. CLC manufactures a full line of
metalworking fl uids. The development of their latest product, NanoFast EDM, will be of particular interest to the EDM
community. It is an EDM oil that is well suited for Micro Hole and Small-Hole EDM drilling. Its ultra-low viscosity helps
evacuate particulate from the cut. It is lighter than water and more stable in terms of changes in viscosity vs. tem-
perature. It has an advantage over water in that it does not require DI resins for conductivity control. Of course, it has

the advantage of being non-corrosive and will protect surface fi nishes.
