Q: I’m ready to perform some maintenance on my
lower head. Are there help screens available on the
machine to guide me through disassembly and then
reassembling the lower head?
A: There are help screens for that and more. They are
available whether on the maintenance side or not. So,
to answer your question, from the maintenance window,
touch “Regular Services,” then touch the help icon (ques-
tion mark) on the right-side vertical menu and wait for it
to highlight—see Figure 1.
Once highlighted, touch the box “Lower Guide Roller,”
and the help screen will appear. From the help screen,

you will notice that part numbers are also given for
the specifi c parts. Then, scrolling further down, the
re-assembly process starts. Help is also available for
other items; the key is to touch the help icon fi rst, then

A: iGroove+ is exclusively a Sodick technology with several upgrades from our
previous model. Some improvements include the patented wire rotation, upgraded
dielectric tank, improved eco-friendliness, and higher-quality precision at corners.
iGroove+ technology uses less wire to machine your parts in
iGroove+ technology uses less wire to machine your parts in
your EDM, which can lead to signifi cant cost savings in the long
haul. In a 100mm cut, you can save nearly 30% of total wire sav-
ings. As Figure 1 shows, the wire will rotate and use a different
section of the wire when traveling from the top to the bottom.
For 0.010” wire, the standard rotation will be ±190°. There is a
clockwise and counterclockwise rotation depending on your
G42/G41 wire offset, and the rotation will move accordingly so
it climbs cuts.

Inverter pumps are incorporated in the new iGroove+ machines
to limit unnecessary electricity consumption in the fl ushing,
sending, and circulation pumps. These pumps actually con-
sume over 70% of the electricity, which is why optimizing the
pumps will have a great effect on the whole machine.
