The fi rst thing I noticed was that the machine was well
sealed. Robert confi rmed that the enclosure is sealed for
graphite use. He added that it includes a Donaldson dust
collection system and dust ingress protection on the
guideways and ball screws, as well as bellows way covers.
He indicated that even the Lehman trunnion table is sealed
for use with graphite.

The specifi cations were quite impressive. It has a 20,000
RPM spindle and generous travels of (X, Y, Z) 25.98” x 19.7”
x 20.05”. It has a fast rapid federate of 945 in/min in all
axes, and an impressive maximum federate of 787 in/min.
With a generous tool magazine, this work cell is ideal for
unattended operation.
After looking at the graphite milling work cell, Robert walked
me to another side of the booth to show me the exeron Sinker EDM machines. He turned me over to Adrian Ramirez
de Anda, exeron’s Sales International Manager and Back Offi ce. Adrian asked Stefan Rudolph, exeron Application
Engineer, to join our discussion. The fi rst machine we looked at was exeron’s model 313. This seems like a perfect
size machine for the majority of die-mold cutting. It has
a stationary tank and generous travels of (X, Y, Z) 24.4” x
into the control and operator interface. EDM Today Magazine

16.5” x 15.7”. It has a beautiful full drop tank that makes
part setup easy. It has a dual-electrode weight capacity. It
can handle 110 lbs. with C-axis, and an impressive 551 lbs.
without C-axis. The stationary work table has a capacity
of 3,300 lbs. It has generator options of either 60 or 120A.
Stefan stated proudly that the operator interface is very us-
er-friendly and intuitive. He added that exeron has 45 years
of experience building equipment and helping customers
solve problems. All of that experience and expertise went
We then moved over to the massive model 316. This ma-

chine has a table size of 68.9” x 53.1”. Travels are (X, Y, Z)
59” x 46.5” x 31.5”. The gantry design assures rigidity. The
work table supports a workpiece weight up to 17, 637 lbs.
Even with such a large machine, it still includes a drop tank
for easy setup. This machine can easily accommodate large
automotive molds.
While the model 316 was displayed, it is not the biggest
machine that exeron makes. Their model 316 XXL has a
longer work table and X-axis travel. The work table is 98.4”
long with 78.7” of X-axis travel.

I asked Adrian and Stefan what else they would like EDM
Today readers to know about exeron. Adrian replied he
would like readers to know that exeron can supply tailored
automation systems to match a customer’s requirements.
With automation, exeron machines can become high-
performance production cells.
