IMTS Update
EROWA had a great booth location in the South building. Sales and
Marketing Specialist Bob Devilla and President and COO Dan Pilolla
welcomed me to the booth. As reported in EDM Today’s Winter 2024
issue, Dan has only recently taken over the reins at EROWA, replacing Chris Norman, who had retired after many
years of service. Dan is an industry veteran who has spent his career in the tooling industry.
When asked what’s new, Dan stated EROWA

is introducing its newest model, the EROWA
Robot Compact 150. This new model has
impressive specifi cations. It is an extremely
fl exible unit that supports loading of two
production machines. A great example is
to load electrode blanks into a graphite mill,
then store the completed electrodes. On the
other side, it can load electrodes and work-
pieces into the EDM, and store the fi nished
workpieces when done.
The design is fl exible and can support a mix

of pallet sizes. It can hold up to 400 50mm
pallets and handle weights up to 150 kg (331 lbs.) It has an extended reach out to 2M to support loading operations
on large machine tools.
Perhaps the most impressive feature is all of this capacity is
achieved in a very compact footprint. This is achieved by incorpo-
rating some novel features, such as pull-out magazine levels for
easy loading.
Other features include an integrated vision system in the grip-
per to verify pallet presence and RFID system to identify what
is loaded onto the pallet. Dan explained that, when used with
EROWA’s latest Process Control JMS software, it controls the

entire process. Whether it be die-sinking or cutting EDM, milling,
drilling, turning, grinding, measuring, additive, or other process-
es, the JMS software connects all the machines and operations
together. Dan added that this type of technology really is the
future of production. Whether it be total lights-out manufacturing or simply a way to maximize productivity, EROWA’s
automation solutions can provide fl exible, versatile solutions to allow their customers to compete globally.
Dan also indicated that he was pleased to announce EROWA is investing in a new automation production facility.
The investment is in response to the global customer demand for automation.

HANGSTERFER’S LABORATORIES Booth 237515
Hangsterfer’s Laboratories has produced a full line of metalworking
fl uids since 1937. Their products are manufactured in New Jersey.
I was welcomed into their booth by Ed Jones, COO, George Burrell, Area Director, and Mark Catano, Area Director.
We sat down to discuss Hangsterfer’s EDM oil offering, Crystal Brite. Ed explained that it was formulated as a
multi-purpose dielectric fl uid that can be used for both roughing and fi nishing in Sinker EDM. It is a blend of ultra-
pure hydrocarbons with the latest synthetic technology. The result is a crystal-clear dielectric that is odorless and
operator-friendly.
EDM Today’s Feature Editor, Brian Pfl uger, a Makino EDM Product Manager, reported that Makino had tested Crystal
