A 36,000 RPM spindle is standard. Other spindle options are available,
as high as 42,000 RPM. Currently it is available in two sizes, the V5
and the V9. However, a larger V12 is planned for the future.

After looking at the V9, I spoke with Senior Application Engineer Pat

Crownhart. He showed me their SG28 Sinker on display. The SG28
has their newest M800 CNC control. It is 5-axis capable and packed
with advanced features. These features include on-board AI that
works with Mitsubishi’s IDPM3 circuit to reduce electrode wear while
at the same time cutting machining time in half. It supports high-
speed jump at 20m/min. jump speed. High 1.6G acceleration sup-
ports fl ushless machining. A dielectric chiller is standard.
Other features include automated pick-up cycles that allow the
program to be locally offset based on the pick-up. The control sup-
ports volumetric compensation resulting in high levels of precision
          anywhere in the work envelope.

also a secondary benefi t. The Wire EDM cut exposes the diamond grit in a better way such that users of EDM-dressed
diamond wheels report better longevity when dressed with EDM.
The rotary unit shown at IMTS is a type ITS-RSI-55 made by ITS Technologies. There are multiple options available for
rotary units. The largest can support a diamond wheel up to 18” in diameter. (Continued on next page)
