Matt boasted that Röders is proud of their performance. He
cited the news he received from a Michigan customer that
commented their one Röders machine is producing parts at
an equivalent rate as ten of his other CNC machines.
As our conversation turned to automation, I was surprised
to learn that Röders builds their own automation systems.
Matt added that they, of course, partner with all of the major

tooling companies and work seamlessly with them should a
customer wish to integrate a Röders machine into an existing
automation system.
I asked Matt if there was anything else that he would like
EDM Today readers to know about Röders. He expressed that
there are so many things that they do to achieve their results.
Another point he mentioned was using a polymer concrete
frame, which is both thermally stable and vibration-dampening. He also mentioned that with a 60,000 mm/min feed
rate, they have a control with a 10,000 block look-ahead.
Readers should know that the machines can also now be optioned up to do both hard milling and jig grinding in the
same machine. Lastly, he added that he would like customers to know of Röder's great support. They have a regional

technician network that can be dispatched for speedy local support.
I asked Bill Raye the same question, but from a dealer’s perspective. Bill summarized that he would like customers to
know that Röders machines are a difference maker. Shops that own Röders machines will be more competitive and
profi table.

Dodge Ito, Seibu America Product
Manager, joined us.
Seibu America’s booth was extremely busy, but there was enough
staff on hand that we were able to sit down and discuss what Seibu
America was showing and what was new. Seibu had two machines
on display, the model M50HP and the model M25LP.
The M25LP was
used to introduce
some new tech-
nology. Seibu now
offers an option

called Seibu Scope Vision (SSV).
This product was developed in Japan
in 2021, has been vetted, and is now
introduced to the North American
market at IMTS. SSV is a vision system
that allows for ultra-high accuracy part
alignment. Dodge stated that the SSV can achieve setup accuracy of approximately 1
µm. SSV is available as an option for all Seibu Wire EDM models.
Another new feature introduced at IMTS is called SE-Connect (SmartNC External Tool
Connect). It allows the use of QR codes to identify workpieces. Dodge summarized
the many benefi ts that SSV brings. It virtually eliminates setup errors. It automatically (Continued on next page)
brings in the correct program into the control, deleting the previous program.
